PSCE involved in CERIS workshop on developing EUCCS

Last week, the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS) organised a workshop to provide an opportunity for Member States’ experts and industry representatives to discuss the policy initiative for a European Critical Communication System (EUCCS), as well as further security and resilience aspects and future technologies for secure communications.

The European Commission is working together with Member States’ experts to establish a European Critical Communication System to interlink the communication networks of all public law enforcement, civil protection, and safety responders in Europe by 2030. Building on dedicated EU security research projects and using state-of-the-art technology like broadband, this system shall allow for seamless critical communication and operational mobility across the Schengen area. This planned system has also been identified as a goal in the Political Guidelines for the next European Commission (2024 – 2029).

David Lund, our Board Member, was present as the Coordinator of BroadEU Net Programme to present the initiative EUCCS that is to establish a secure, interoperable communication network for public security across the EU by 2030.

Jointly to David for the Panel 1 “‘EUCCS 1.0’ (2030)”, we had some of our very active and brillant Members who are spending much efforts in reaching the EUCCS in the frame of BroadEU Net Programme, to share their voices as Industry and End-Users: Fredrik Ryberg (Polismyndigheten), Charlotte Roesener (Frequentis), Renaud Mellies (ACMOSS – Agence des communications mobiles opérationnelles de sécurité et de secours), Yves Van Tente (Airbus Public Safety and Security), Massimo Lenzi (Leonardo).

Laurie Ibbs, one of our Senior Research Consultant, was present on behalf FIDAL PROJECT in the “Technological developments and R&I needed for ‘EUCCS 2.0’” panel. The occasion to present the project and the results of the workshop he run in our last conference.
With Christoph Striecks (AIT Austrian Institute of Technology), Jan Bonde Hennies (stashcat GmbH), Jorge Pereira (EU Digital & TechEuropean Commission).

We would like especially thank the DG HOME (European Commission) for the great organization of this event and for creating the opportunity for insightful discussions.

PSCE is very pleased to be involved in the organisation of the CERIS event and to share with you the opportunity to better understand the objectives of the European Commission and to be part of this dialogue between Member States, European Commission and Industry.

We are looking forward to continue building on these conversations!
