On 12 and 13 December 2018, another PSCE conference successfully took place in Bled, Slovenia. The conference was collocated with three workshops addressing topics as varied as social media and crowdsourcing for disaster management, cross-border interoperability and 5G for PPDR.
Throughout the conference were addressed some of the hottest topics in public safety communications including practitioners training and education, smart communications and preparedness against wildfires. The high level presentations were completed by two interactive and collaborative sessions consisting of a serious gaming simulation of a search & rescue operation, showing the added-vlaue of this type of exercise for training practioners, followed by a collaborative session on how to elaborate and define appropriate practitioner-focused scenarios.
The conference provided an outstanding platform to share information and exchange points of view in the field of public safety communications and featured a dedicated poster & exhibition area where projects and initiatives could show their work and achievements to a relevant pool of public safety experts. Overall, the PSCE Conference and workshops brought together around 150 participants including public safety practitioners, policymakers, academic researchers, industrial experts and other interested stakeholders.
On the evening of the 13th, conference delegates were offered the opportunity to pursue the discussions in a relaxed atmosphere during a networking diner in a restaurant located on the lake shore.
