The European Commission strives to make 5G a reality for all citizens and businesses in Member States by the end of this decade. To attain this, the 5G for Europe Action Plan, a roadmap for public and private investment on 5G infrastructure in the EU, was created on 14 September 2016.
The Action Plan proposes several measures that will guarantee a coordinated approach among all EU Member States, to make 5G available commercially, by the end of 2020. To achieve this, provisional spectrum bands will be made available for 5G and additional bands will be developed as soon as possible.
5G will support new types of applications, connecting devices and objects, that will make innovative solutions in the health sector possible.
