Challenges to counter crime and terrorism have become more complex, cyber threats to communication infrastructures are also becoming increasingly more sophisticated and societies are facing increasingly complex hazards and insecurity. To be able to respond to natural and man-made disasters that often go beyond geographical border limitations, responders need better technology that is fit for purpose, works anywhere, is secure, reliable, and resilient against cyber threats.
The European Commission services and Experts from EU Member States are leading the way in establishing the European Union critical communication system known as the EUCCS. The BroadEU.Net program builds on the experience of the projects BroadWay and BroadMap, which provided the confidence that the standards and technology have the potential to realize the EUCCS. The program will provide support to prepare the technology and the operational procedures that will realise the EUCCS.
